The Best HVAC Settings to Help You Sleep Soundly at Night

Published by Jennifer Fletcher

Many people resort to working out until exhausted or taking sleep-inducing medication to get a good night’s sleep. But did you know that adjusting the thermostat to the right temperature can also play a role in helping you get to sleep? Local cooling and heating service contractor Modern Air Solutions explains further in this blog.

Best HVAC Settings

The Role of Thermoregulation

Your body’s thermoregulation process works to keep it at the ideal temperature. This is also an important function for quality sleep. When your room is too warm or too cold, you’re less likely to sleep soundly. Along with occasional tossing and turning in your bed, it might be difficult for you to reach the deeper stages of sleep. Upon waking, you may feel sluggish or irritated.

The Best Indoor Temperatures for Sleep

Heating and air conditioning installation contractors like us agree with sleep experts who say that the ideal room temperature range for optimal sleep is between 60 and 67 degrees Fahrenheit. This just applies to adults, however. Infants and toddlers require a different temperature range due to their smaller bodies. Indoor temperatures between 65 and 70 degrees are considered ideal for them. If it becomes a bit chilly, use more blankets instead of cranking up the thermostat.

Other Factors to Consider

Unfortunately, it takes more than optimal temperatures to achieve maximum comfort. Other factors such as humidity and noise can affect how well you sleep. Consider using a dehumidifier to help you control your room’s indoor humidity level. If you hear grinding, squealing, banging or thumping noises coming from your HVAC system, call a local HVAC technician right away, as there might be an issue within the unit that needs to be addressed.

Modern Air Solutions Inc. offers top-notch cooling and heating repair and maintenance services to homeowners in the local area.
