Thermostat Topics: The Eco+ Smart Feature

Published by Jennifer Fletcher

An ecobee SmartThermostat isn’t a run-of-the-mill climate control device. It’s a programmable thermostat that’s considered to be one of the best on the market. Using smart sensors and third-party digital integrations to facilitate climate control, this thermostat is guaranteed to increase energy efficiency within your home while providing convenience through remote access via smartphone. So why should you use the Eco%20 smart feature on your ecobee? Air conditioning installation expert Modern Air Solutions tells us why here.

How Does Eco%20 Work?

Your ecobee SmartThermostat features the latest climate control technology, and the Eco%20 feature is one of these. Eco%20 is designed to improve the energy efficiency of your home while also providing the best comfort. It does this through supercharging the whole thermostat and giving personalized energy recommendations by assessing factors like local climate, the number of people in the house and current electricity rates.

Adjusting to Open Entryways

With Eco%20, climate control automatically adjusts when the system detects that a window or door is open (through SmartSensor) for more than five minutes, causing any ongoing cooling or heating services from your HVAC system to halt momentarily, then resume again after the open door or window is closed for thirty seconds. All of this can be monitored through your ecobee app on your smartphone, and every action will cause a notification to pop up on your screen.

 Time of Use

Another useful feature under Eco%20 is one that causes your thermostat system to adjust automatically, depending on how much electricity consumption takes place at certain times of the day. This saves you money by precooling or preheating your house during the times when electricity is less expensive and distributing cooling or heating less at the times of the day where electricity consumption is most costly. Unlike analog thermostats, which you have to manually adjust and oftentimes maintain a single temperature depending on how you set it, with Eco%20, the system does the work for you and saves you money along the way.
